Life is a test. We are not present on earth to just exist; we are here to learn. Life is a lesson. Love one another unconditionally. Love thyself unconditionally. We spend our whole lives learning to do this. Some succeed and some never have a clue. I'm trying. Love my fellow man. Don't react and don't always have to be right. This is one I'll have to work on for the rest of my life. Appreciate each day and recognize positive and negative as a part of life's experiences. Look around me and see life at it's best. The joys of living come as you strive to achieve your dreams. Its the quality of each day that is important, not the distant dream once achieved. Teach and nurture my children. You can never give them too much love. -Randa Jex 1/1/94

FEBRUARY 17: COOLEST TOOL EVER!!

I have the coolest tool to share with you!! If you are anything like me and love rearranging furniture in your mind...this little gadget will be as fun for you as it is for me. We recently purchased a sectional and some home accessories from this really funky interiors store called IO Metro. Well I was on their website checking to see if some barstools we fell in love with were on sale and I came upon the Room Planner.

this is our master bedroom now...but I have some big plans for it!

So I went online last night and after measuring some of our rooms and the furniture in it and created rooms with the exact dimensions. You can add windows, accessories, all kinds of furniture, all types of doors, ceiling fans, plants...you name it! It is so awesome because without killing my back trying to see if I like a different placement of furniture...all I have to do is create furniture to the exact measurements of mine and then move it all around with a click of the mouse. So questions like ...Will I like the bed on this wall...Will having the dresser here block the closet door...Will the room look too heavy on one side with this chair here... were all answered and it was nothing like what I originally planned in my mind. It solved some issues I was having in the back 2 guest rooms and our master bedroom. It also has outdoor landscaping so you can make plans for your interior or exterior. I think this would be a fabulous tool for new home owners, kitchen renovators, nursery planning, bathroom re-designs, or even just trying to figure out how to rearrange your furniture to make room for a Christmas tree. As you can see in my rendering you can even add magazines and fuzzy house shoes!!

Now that I have my plan of action thanks to Room Planner, I just need to find a program that finds time on my calendar to actually move the furniture! Maybe next month!

FEBRUARY 11 2010- BE MINE!!

(a few homemade decorations I put up for one of my favorite holidays!)

Happy Valentine's weekend to all my fellow love birds out there. I hate to sound cheesy... well no I don't my name is Shannon "Cheesy" Jex after all... but I just love this holiday. I love it because it has never been about money or big gifts with me and Zach...just sweet cards and quality time. Growing up Mom and Dad always made it fun too...with chocolates and sweet cards!! Over the last 8 years, Zach and I have always celebrated this sweet day in some form or fashion. One year in college we ordered take-out from Boure (in Oxford) and had dinner and raspberry cheesecake by the fire at home...some years we went to sorority/fraternity formals...some years we battled the crowds and went out to dinner. This year I am thinking ordering to-go sounds like the ideal date night in this frigid winter weather...now I just have to find somewhere that has yummy raspberry cheesecake...hmmm maybe I will just try my hand at making one!
I feel so blessed to be married to such a romantic man. I was thinking the other day that he makes everyday "Valentine's-ish" with sweet little treats, loving words, tons of hugs everytime I see him...and heartfelt little sticky notes around the house. I hope you all feel/have felt that kind of love before!

So what are you and your sweetie doing this year??

FEBRUARY 6- MARDI GRAS AND SAINTS!

Well we had a great turnout at our Duke and Duchess Mardi Gras party honoring Stacey Heflin and Ryan Wingfield. We had a house full of fun friends and as always...those Jex house parties turn into the most fun nights. The other 6 host couples stayed till about 1:30 am just cleaning and laughing. The big hit of the party was the chocolate fountain and treat bar. Our friend Sue insisted that we have a chocolate fountain and I am so glad she did it was yummy. We had marshmallows, strawberries, pretzels, graham crackers, and waffle cone wafers! My mouth is watering just telling you about it!
The next day we watched the Saints make history in the Superbowl! What a game...I love Peyton Manning but that night I was all for the Saints! Just wish we could have been in New Orleans with Lauren and Madison!
